Subhadeep Ghosh Appointed as India’s New Fielding Coach

The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has appointed Subhadeep Ghosh as the new fielding coach of the Indian men’s cricket team. The former Assam and Railways cricketer replaces T Dilip, whose contract was not renewed after India’s tour of Zimbabwe. Ghosh’s appointment marks another important addition to head coach Gautam Gambhir’s support staff ahead of a busy international season.

The 57-year-old will begin his new role during India’s two-match Test series against Sri Lanka in August. Although Ghosh played only 17 first-class matches between 1994 and 2004, he has built a strong reputation as a coach over the years. His experience across domestic cricket, India A, the National Cricket Academy (NCA), the Indian women’s team, and the Indian Premier League has made him one of the most respected fielding specialists in Indian cricket.

Ghosh previously served as the head coach of the Assam senior men’s team and has also worked with IPL franchises Delhi Capitals and Kolkata Knight Riders. His coaching journey has focused heavily on improving fielding standards, fitness, and player development. These qualities are expected to strengthen India’s overall performance under Gambhir’s leadership.

Following the exits of T Dilip and assistant coach Ryan ten Doeschate, Ghosh joins a coaching group that includes batting coach Sitanshu Kotak and bowling coach Morne Morkel. The revamped support staff reflects India’s commitment to maintaining high standards across all aspects of the game.

The Assam Cricket Association welcomed the appointment with great pride.
