CSA Revises Schedule to Include Three T20Is for India Women’s Tour

Cricket South Africa (CSA) has announced a revised itinerary for the Indian women’s tour of South Africa in December 2026, expanding the series to include three T20 Internationals alongside the previously scheduled three One-Day Internationals (ODIs) and a one-off Test match. The addition of the T20I series is aimed at helping both teams prepare for the inaugural ICC Women’s Champions Trophy, scheduled to take place in Sri Lanka in February 2027.

Under the original schedule, India were set to begin the tour with a three-match ODI series starting on December 9, followed by a one-off Test at St. George’s Park in Gqeberha on December 20. However, CSA has now reshuffled the itinerary, with the Test match becoming the opening fixture of the tour. The four-day Test will be played from December 9 to 12 at St. George’s Park.

Following the Test, the focus will shift to the 50-over format. The ODI series will begin on December 16 at Boland Park in Paarl before moving to Newlands in Cape Town on December 19. The third and final ODI is scheduled for December 22 at Mangaung Oval in Bloemfontein.

The newly added T20I series will bring the tour to an exciting conclusion. The opening T20I will be played on Boxing Day, December 26, at Willowmoore Park in Benoni. The final two matches will take place on consecutive days, December 29 and 30, at NWC Oval in Potchefstroom.

CSA Chief Executive Officer Pholetsi Moseki expressed his excitement about the revised schedule, saying the additional T20I matches will provide the Proteas Women with valuable preparation ahead of the ICC Women’s Champions Trophy. He also emphasized that playing against a strong Indian side across all three formats would offer high-quality competition and help South Africa continue building toward another major ICC tournament.

India and South Africa have developed a competitive rivalry in women’s cricket over recent years. Earlier this year, South Africa defeated India 4-1 in a five-match T20I series at home. The Proteas also overcame India during the ICC Women’s T20 World Cup in Manchester, where India exited in the group stage. South Africa reached the semifinals before eventually losing to England.

The revised multi-format series promises exciting cricket and will serve as a crucial preparation phase for two of the world’s strongest women’s teams ahead of a significant ICC event.
