David White Resigns as ILT20 CEO After Three Successful Seasons
The International League T20 (ILT20) has announced that its Chief Executive Officer, David White, has stepped down from his position after requesting the league not to extend his contract. White will return to his home country, New Zealand, bringing an end to a three-year stint at the helm of one of the rapidly growing T20 competitions in world cricket.
White joined the ILT20 as CEO in September 2023 and oversaw three seasons of the tournament from 2023 to 2025. During his tenure, the league expanded its presence in the global cricket calendar and strengthened its reputation as a major franchise-based T20 competition.
Explaining his decision, White said that he had decided to return home after what he described as three hugely successful years with the DP World International League T20. He expressed gratitude to the league for accepting his request and said he had thoroughly enjoyed his time in the role.
White also praised the progress made by the competition in recent years, noting that the ILT20 had developed into one of the leading T20 tournaments in the world. His departure marks the end of an important phase for the UAE-based league as it continues to compete for attention alongside several established domestic franchise tournaments.
ILT20 chairman Khalid Al Zarooni acknowledged White’s contribution and thanked him for his commitment during his three-year tenure. According to Al Zarooni, White played a leading role in the league’s growth and helped establish it as one of the major tournaments on the global cricket landscape.
The chairman added that the ILT20 had made significant progress under White’s leadership and wished him success in his future endeavours. While the league has not yet announced his successor, the focus will now shift towards the next phase of its development and leadership.
David White’s resignation comes after a period of steady growth for the ILT20, which has attracted international players, franchise investment and increasing global attention. His experience and leadership were considered important in shaping the tournament during its formative seasons.
As White prepares to return to New Zealand, the ILT20 faces a new chapter. The appointment of a new CEO will be closely watched as the competition looks to build on the foundation created during White’s three seasons in charge and further strengthen its position in the increasingly competitive world of franchise T20 cricket.
