England Retain Sonny Baker for Final Pakistan Test Permalink:

England have retained fast bowler Sonny Baker in their squad for the third and final Test against Pakistan at Edgbaston, while Brydon Carse continues to remain unavailable following an incident that resulted in his arrest last month.
Carse, 31, was left out of England’s squad for the second Test at Lord’s after an incident outside a nightclub in Derby on August 22, during which he was briefly handcuffed by police. The Durham fast bowler remains under investigation, and England have once again decided not to include him for the series finale.
Despite his absence, Carse recently returned to action for Durham in a County fixture against Gloucestershire last week. However, his availability for international cricket remains uncertain as the investigation continues.
Sonny Baker, meanwhile, has retained his place in the England squad after being included for the previous Test. The young seamer will now have another opportunity to remain around the national setup as England prepare for their final challenge against Pakistan.
The only other change to the squad sees Matthew Fisher dropped. England have otherwise kept faith with the group that helped them establish a commanding 2-0 lead in the three-match Test series.
England will head into the Edgbaston Test with the opportunity to complete a 3-0 clean sweep over Pakistan. The hosts have dominated the series so far and will be keen to maintain their momentum when the final Test begins in Birmingham on September 9.
The squad continues to feature a strong mix of experienced international players and emerging talent. Joe Root will lead the side, with Jofra Archer, Gus Atkinson, Harry Brook, Ben Duckett, Ollie Pope, Jamie Smith and Josh Tongue among the prominent names available for selection.
Other members of the squad include Shoaib Bashir, Sam Cook, Jordan Cox, Emilio Gay, Dan Lawrence and Ollie Robinson.
For Pakistan, the Edgbaston Test represents one final opportunity to avoid a series whitewash. England, however, will be determined to finish the contest with a perfect record and underline their dominance in home conditions.
With Brydon Carse still unavailable and Sonny Baker retaining his place, England’s selection decisions will once again be closely watched ahead of the crucial final Test in Birmingham.
