Mirzapur: The Movie has reportedly undergone several modifications before receiving its censor certificate from the Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC). The highly anticipated action crime thriller has been awarded an ‘A’ certificate, with the makers asked to reduce intimate content and modify several abusive words and dialogues.

According to reports, the CBFC requested the removal of a total of 35 seconds of intimate scenes from the film. The modifications were made across two sequences, including one in the first half and another after the interval. The scenes were reportedly reduced by around 50 per cent through changes in both visuals and sound.

Apart from the intimate scenes, several cuss words and abusive expressions were also modified or muted. A few dialogues were altered, with certain words replaced by more appropriate alternatives. These changes were made before the film was finally cleared for release.

However, what has drawn attention is that the CBFC reportedly did not ask for cuts to any violent or gory sequences in the film. While intimate scenes and abusive language faced modifications, the action and violence remained intact. This contrast has sparked discussion among fans, especially considering Mirzapur’s reputation for intense violence, crime and dark storytelling.

The censor certificate lists the final runtime of Mirzapur: The Movie at 3 hours, 17 minutes and 19 seconds. The film was reportedly reviewed by the Revising Committee of the CBFC. Typically, a film is first viewed by the Examining Committee, and filmmakers can approach the Revising Committee if they wish to challenge or seek a review of the suggested modifications. The Revising Committee then takes a final decision regarding certification and required changes.

Directed by Gurmeet Singh, Mirzapur: The Movie takes viewers back into the dangerous world of power struggles and crime. The story revolves around the battle for control over the underworld throne of Mirzapur, with old rivals returning and new threats emerging.

The film features an extensive ensemble cast, including Pankaj Tripathi, Ali Fazal, Divyenndu, Jitendra Kumar, Ravi Kishan, Abhishek Banerjee, Rasika Dugal, Shweta Tripathi, Shriya Pilgaonkar and Harshita Gaur, among others.

With its ‘A’ certificate secured and censorship changes completed, Mirzapur: The Movie is now set to hit theatres on September 4, promising fans another intense chapter from the popular crime franchise.
