Yash Explains Why He Skipped Fan’s Funeral and Opens Up About His Fans

Yash, one of Kannada cinema’s biggest stars, has opened up about his close connection with fans and the difficult decisions that come with being a public figure. Ahead of the worldwide release of Toxic: A Fairy Tale for Grown-Ups, the actor spoke about fan interactions and explained why he chose not to attend the funeral of a fan who died by suicide.

Speaking on Aap Ki Adalat, Yash recalled an incident from December 2022 when he spent several hours taking individual photographs with around 700 fans at an event in Bengaluru. Rather than taking one large group photograph, the actor chose to give each person a personal picture.

Yash explained that an individual photograph can become a lasting memory for a fan. He said that whenever he is in the right frame of mind and has enough time, he tries to meet fans personally and give them that experience. He also acknowledged that his professional commitments and limited time sometimes prevent him from meeting everyone who approaches him.

The actor followed the same approach during the recording of Aap Ki Adalat, where he reportedly took individual photographs with people present at the studio after the interview.

However, Yash was also asked about a much more difficult moment involving one of his fans in 2021. A young fan from Karnataka died by suicide, and reports at the time said that the fan had wished for Yash to attend his funeral.

Yash said he was deeply saddened by the death but deliberately decided not to attend the funeral. He explained that he was concerned his presence could unintentionally create a harmful precedent, with other vulnerable fans believing that such an act might bring them closer to their favourite star.

The actor stressed that he would always try to support fans when they achieve something positive and ask him to be part of their celebrations, whenever his schedule permits. However, he did not want his actions to encourage anyone to make an irreversible decision in the hope of receiving attention from him.

Meanwhile, anticipation continues to grow around Toxic: A Fairy Tale for Grown-Ups. Directed by Geetu Mohandas, the film stars Yash alongside Kiara Advani, Nayanthara, Huma Qureshi, Tara Sutaria and Rukmini Vasanth.

Produced by KVN Productions and Monster Mind Creations, Toxic is scheduled for a worldwide theatrical release on August 26.
